Design Optimization and Comparative Study of a Novel Halbach Permanent Magnet Vernier Machine with Alternate Flux Bridge

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect alternate flux bridge combining Halbach array in Vernier machines. key novelty that integrated with PM, design can not only provide a path for low-order harmonics but also effectively improve torque density machine. Together other three traditional structures under same overall size, current density, and PM usage, proposed structure optimized by genetic algorithm (GA) maximize average minimize ripple. With winding configuration full-pitch (FP) short-pitch (SP), back-EMF, efficiency, power factor, performances four machines different topologies are analyzed compared, respectively. 2D time stepping finite element analysis (FEA) experimental verification, reaches 40.11 KNm/m3, which significantly higher than its existing counterparts.
